Role of Internet in Education

The Internet, the most useful modern-day technology that helps us not only in our daily lives but also in our professional lives. It is widely used for educational purposes for gathering information and doing research or adding to the knowledge of various subjects. The Internet plays an extremely important role in education. There’s no doubt that everybody prefers Google in this modern era for their queries, problems or doubts. Popular search engines such as Yahoo, Google, etc. are people’s top option because they offer easy and fast access in just a few seconds to the vast amount of information. It includes a wealth of knowledge which can be searched at any time. The internet has improved technology, communication and online entertainment.

Today it has become more important in the world as well as a powerful tool favored by all. Everyone needs internet for some purpose or other. Students need to search the internet for information about exams, curriculum, results, etc. To achieve success in student life you can also follow these steps for students. Importance of the internet in education to the students means making it easier for them to research things, and to relearn the content taught in the school. It’s used by people according to their needs and interests.

In many ways it is difficult to discuss any aspect of contemporary society without taking the Internet into consideration. Many people’s lives are so thoroughly saturated with digital technology that the once-obvious distinction between being online or offline now does not do justice to a situation where the Internet is always implicitly on. Nevertheless, it is often found that younger generations are unable to communicate as a distinct body of the Internet. Alternatively, electronic activities have been part of the lives of young people since birth, and are considered to be a fundamental requirement of modern life, much like air, water or electricity. So speaking of the Internet and education in many ways simply means talking about contemporary education. The Internet is already an integral element of education in (over)developed nations, and we can be sure that its educational significance across the globe will continue to increase over this decade.

There are many benefits of the internet in the field of education. Some of these are:

  1. 1. Cost Effective and Affordable Education

One of the largest barriers to education is high cost. The Internet improves the quality of education, which is one of the pillars of sustainable development. It provides education through Videos (like youtube tutorial videos) and web tutorials which is affordable to everyone and cost-effective.

2. Student–Teacher and Peer Interaction With the help of the internet one can be in constant contact with their teachers or with other classmates. Parents should connect and talk about their kid’s success in the school with teachers and school authorities. Interaction on forums with similar minded people can help students explore new ideas and enrich their knowledge.

3. Effective teaching and learning tool The Internet has become a major tool as well as a learning tool for effective teaching. Teachers can use this as a teaching tool to attain the achievement of students. With its use the learning process becomes interesting and diverse. Teachers can teach to capture the students ‘ attention with the use of animation, powerpoint slides, and images.

4. Easy access to quality education teachers can make use of the internet by providing the students with additional study materials and resources such as interactive lessons, educational quiz, and tutorials. Teachers can record their lectures and provide them for revisions to the students, which is better than reading from notes.

5. Interaction with digital media One of the most basic parts of our lives is the regular use of digital media. Digital bulletin boards save paper, and allow video and audio display to attract students ‘ attention. Nowadays, there are many paid sites that provide high-quality and easily understandable educational resources to masses.

6. The biggest advantage the internet offers is keeping you updated with Latest Information. For each topic there’s a huge amount of information available. It keeps us up-to-date with the latest thematic information.

7. Training with multimedia The learning process benefits the students as it helps simplify the information. It also helps the teachers in school visualize what is being taught. You can access Video Tutorials and other online resources via the Internet if you want to prepare for final exams.
The Internet is a boon to the people, used worldwide. It should therefore be utilized for good purpose. It has had a big impact on the children’s education. If this is used in proper ways that meet the level of development of children, they can benefit from the Internet and learn from it.

Whether or not one agrees with any of these latter arguments, it is clear that the subject of “the Internet and education” needs to be approached with caution. Currently surrounding the Internet and education, the predominantly optimistic rhetoric of transformation and change distracts from a number of significant conflicts and tensions that need to be better recognized and addressed. This is not to say we should adopt a completely antagonistic or pessimistic attitude. Indeed, it should not automatically be assumed that many of the issues just outlined are cause for concern.

After all, there are many people who will benefit from more individualised, elitist, competitive, market-driven, omnipresent, and de-emotionalized forms of educational commitment. The internet is clearly working at this very moment for the millions of people who are learning online.
